What is SCH 20S Pipe?

Pipes are designed in various grades and classes. These classes help divide the pipe as per wall thickness, while grade distinguishes them based on their properties. The SCH 20S pipe are one of the lower schedule grades. This propels the schedule 20s pipe grade to be used in lower pressure applications. The pressure rating of the pipe is dependent on the dimension of the pipe. Lower the diameter of the pipe larger will be its wall thicknesses and pressure holding capacity. The thickness range of these pipes is between 6.35 inches up to 12.7 inches. The thickness plays a pivotal role in correlating with the diameter of the pipe. The nominal pipe size in these schedules ranges between 8 inches to 36 inches.

Where to use Schedule 20S Steel Pipe?

Schedule 20s steel pipe are amongst the lowest class of steel pipe. Schedule 20s is a very low schedule class. These pipes are generally preferred in low-pressure and temperature applications where there is limited pressure and stress on the piping grade. These pipes are highly ductile and easy to work with and can be employed in stress-free industrial and domestic applications.
