ASTM A252 pipe
The A252 pipe is covered under the specification of the American Society of Testing and Materials. The ASTM A252 pipe shows a limit of 0.050% phosphorus making it fragile for welding. The material grade only covers phosphorus with other elements embedded according to carbon steel grades. These pipes are used as a permanent load-carrying item that allows forming a shell or concrete cast piles. The versatile pipes are divided into three groups namely grades 1, 2, and 3. The ASTM A252 Gr3 Carbon Steel Pipe is the strongest grade in this range designed with a minimum tensile strength of 456mpa with a minimum yield strength of 310mpa. The carbon steel pipes are a common feature in fabrication systems, structural units, protective casing, pilings, bridges, and micro-piles. ASTM A252 Pipe Pile is seen in deep underground foundations that help in transferring the load from building material to the layers of soil that are underground. These pipes may have open or close-ended points in them and can be covered with a cap or concrete to seal the module. Steel Pipe Pile ASTM A252 is designed in schedules of SCH 40, XS, 80, XXS, and 160. These piles can be galvanized to protect them against wear and tear. They are usually designed in single random, double random, or in uniform lengths.
Piping components in the ASTM A252 grades are produced in seamless and welded configurations. ASTM A 252 Welded Steel Pipe is produced by rolling sheets or strips followed by welding them in place either longitudinally, vertically, or straight. These low-cost pipes are preferred in low pressure and temperature applications. The ASTM A252 Seamless Pipes are manufactured by passing hot steel billets through an extruded metal and shaping them precisely. These pipes have a 20% load-bearing capacity than welded pipes but are expensive to produce.
