API 5L X46 Pipe
The API 5L grade is specified under the ISO 3183 grade. API 5L X46 Pipe is made up of a chemical composition of carbon, manganese, phosphorous, sulfur, vanadium, niobium, and titanium. This gives the X46 Pipe good strength and tolerance as it deals with different corrosive and reducing contaminants across stress-induced setups. The API 5L Grade X46 Pipe is manufactured following standards set by the American Petroleum Institute. The pipes in this grade can be classified as PSL 1 and PSL 2 components. The API 5L X46 Psl1 grade is a feature in high pressure and temperature pipelines for transporting corrosive fluids and gases over long distances. API 5L X46 Psl2 Material is designed with superior mechanical properties. This material has a yield strength between 317mpa up to 524mpa with a tensile strength of 434mpa to 758mpa.
The versatile X46 Grade Pipe is designed in an array of welding types. The different processes dictate the aesthetical appearance and performance of the grade. API 5L X46 Psl1 Welded Pipe follows a simple process where sheets or strips are first rolled. They are later welded with seams of different types to meet project requirements. The API 5L X46 ERW Pipe, on the contrary, is welded longitudinally as it is run over dies and welded by passing a high electric current to fuse the ends of the grade. Grade L320 X46 Spiral Welded Pipe is produced from sheet or strip material by unwinding and flattening followed by rolling them spirally with desired diameters. The API 5L X46 Grade B Lsaw Pipe shows a single weld seam on the outer surface of the pipe creating a longitudinal and cross-sectional area. API 5L X46 Gr B Dsaw Pipe can be welded in place with a seam weld on the interior as well as the exterior surface of the pipe.
